Five more Ryne Sanberg cards

The other day Jason from The Writer's Journey mentioned cardbarrel, a site I had not used for quite some time. So, I checked out their cards and was happy to find several to buy. I did not find enough to earn free shipping, so I made sure to buy enough so that it was about the same price for shipping as it was for all the cards.

The blog post celebrates the Ryne Sandberg additions to my collection! In reverse chronological order as that is how my Chromebook decided to upload them all...

1997 Pinnacle Certified -- I bought this card primarily for the back as I like the rainbow of team logos as well as the breakdown of performance versus each NL ONLY club. (Please, take interleague away!)

1997 Pacific Crown Collection -- There was no real reason to buy this other than it +1's my collection.

1997 New Pinnacle -- I guess this was like New Coke or something? But there was also Old Pinnacle, so I am truly unclear of the point. Maybe it meant something in 1997? Anyone? Anyone?

1996 Fleer Update Encore -- 1996 Fleer is a set I adore. I think it, and 1997 which is very similar, are beautifully executed sets. Especially after the terrible debacle that was 1995 Fleer.

1996 Fleer Update Checklist -- Another nice looking card and Sandberg looks kind of Gooberish. Not a criticism! Not a complaint! Not libel. I can just see the kid in Sandberg, is all I am saying.

What do you think about 1996 Fleer? I'll show off the other cards from this order in a few days. That is a promise and a threat.

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. I want to like 96 Fleer, but I just can't. Mid 90s cards were just miserable in my humble opinion....

    1. I don't disagree with you that it was a dark period for cards. That's why the simplicity of 1996 Fleer is so agreeable to me. But I totally get your feelings on it!

  2. I've never checked out that website; have always used Sportlots for my cheaper buys. Will have to take a look at it.
