Hi. Phungo opened two packs and shared that he had an obscene about of dupes in the packs. At Target, I saw that they had some 26-card packs and decided on the spur of the moment to buy two and test my luck. I don't "rip" packs and I don't "pull" cards. I open packs and I get cards. I don't use the word "hit" or "hits" with anything other than scorn and derision. It's a really stupid term.
In my two packs I had no dupes. Which surprised me. And the luck of the draw in them was that I got three out of the four cards in the entire series that I wanted. Andrew McCutchen, Jose Ramirez, and Mike Trout. I also want Bobby Witt Jr, but our friend Jason C is sending me that. I got an Ohtani NL HR leaders card and a Stars of MLB card; but I did want the base card. So I've worked out a trade for that one. And an after thought card that I "need" (as opposed to "want") is #22, Clayton Kershaw's final base Topps card for the future "Last Topps Cards of Hall of Famers" collection that I have going. That's incoming through a trade too, so act surprised when I show that off.
Getting the McCutchen was ironic because I had already bought a copy off eBay. So I'm keeping the one I landed in the pack and will trade the other away.
Here is Pack 1:
The first card that I saw was the NL ERA leaders (Skenes, Yamamoto, Sanchez). Visible-ish in the top row, left-most card.
And here is Pack 2:
So, overall it was really swell and my only disappointment was not getting the base Ohtani and not getting a foil card of a player (or players) I care about. I quite like the 2026 design and this is a set I might consider buying in full once they are available.

Pretty good I'd say. I hope to hit Target tomorrow.
ReplyDeleteI also pulled way too many Tatis cards out of my packs, including a duplicate insert. That's got to stop.
ReplyDeleteAnd all of yours came undamaged! (Wish I could say the same for my pack)
