Some more trades recently on TCBD yielded me four more Ryne Sandberg cards and I am largely happy to have them. For some reason when uploading a bunch of cards in a row, Bloggers uploads them in reverse order, which is annoying. So we're going here from most recent to oldest.
1995 Topps Finest! Topps Finest is actually anything but their Finest product. Especially with its first iterations. The cards just look awful. And the scan badly. Scanning badly is nothing new with Topps and other card makers who do things now probably solely on the computer. Things often look great online but then printed and in hand...there is a kind of failure in translation. This is part of the reason why everyone seems so obsessed with the rainbows and shininess of cards. It's massively overrated "technology".
Then there is 1993 Fleer Atlantic. Ok.
1991 Studio. Frankly I like the bat the most. A lot of ballplayers look kind of odd without their fielding hat or batting helmet on. I imagine this is very much more the case for football and hockey players.
Lastly, we have a logo-less card in this 1990 Post. The entire thing looks artificial and this is probably the closest coloring of Sandberg to the famous 1978 Greg Minton card.
Speaking of TCDB. Back in February I posted about hitting 10,000 points. Since then I've been continuing to make contributions to the database every day and just the other day I hit 100,000 points. I was the 49th member to reach that milestone. My status after hitting 25,000 points when from Hall of Famer to Legend. I'm still at Legend status but almost kind of feel cheated.
Thanks for stopping by!
