Freebies

On Bluesky, Nathan's Sunday giveaway is fun to watch. And I do primarily just lurk to see what cards are being give away and who is claiming them. I have given some things away (cards, of course, as well as books about baseball and a stash of duplicate plastic ice cream/nacho helments) and I have claimed a couple of times too.

For some strange reason I really don't like claiming cards. I feel very greedy doing it even though I suspect I've given more than I've recieved. Last week I was able to claim three more Ryne Sandberg cards from a kind participant in the giveaway. It was the second time I claimed from him. I'm sure I need to diversify! But the cards are so good to pass up! And I even waited hours and hours and hours before I put in my claim. I wanted them; but I was at the same time half-hopeful that other people would swoop in and scoop them up.

My Sandberg collection now stands, after receiving these three cards, at 257 unique cards from his playing career. That's my caveat: playing career. One one time or another I traded cards on TCDb for more recent Sandberg cards but it was done so only to get ride of cards I didn't want and I ended up flipping them almost immediately.

All three are from 1991. The first two are Ballstreet and the third is from the Sports Educational magazine.

Lovely cards. I'm so happy to have them. The oddball cards have that certain something about them that makes them truly wonderful.

The awards week for baseball ended this evening and back in September, I posted my predictions for ROY, MOY, Cy Young and MVP. I was right on a number of them which is surprising as I went on, more or less, gut feelings.

Thank you for the cards, A.A.!

Thanks for stopping by!
