The other 400, or what became 401

The card I bought that I tried to "make" be the 400th unique John Kruk card arrived the other day. The one from COMC...who knows. But, I got a refund for it and used that money (really the same money, I guess) to try to acquire another one. What was it?

1986 Topps Traded Tiffany version.

Now, Topps Traded and Tiffany both have distinctively bright card backs. But from what I was able to gather, the base Topps Traded cards have an asterisk or two on the bottom left corner of the card back and the Tiffany version has no asterisks. Fortunately, the seller marketed it as the Tiffany version and included a photo of the card back and also fortunately, the correct card arrived. A week or three later than I wanted, but it arrived and that's all that matters!

For the sake of comparison, here below is the normal Topps Traded...  You can see the backs are about the same; but the coloring on the front of the card is different. At least on my copies. The Tiffany edition seems yellow-ish, or off-white-ish.

I don't always keep track of who sends what, or when, but this one I did. It was sent eons ago by Bo of Baseball Cards Come to Life fame. Thanks, Bo!

Thanks for stopping by!

  1. That's impressive that you remember! I find my blog is the best way to figure out where a card came from years ago, if I happened to mention it in the trade post.
