In 2024, I added only a paltry and pathetic eight John Kruk cards to my collection. I was focusing on far different things, I suppose (like adding about 65 Darryl Strawberry cards). So in 2025, one of the things I wanted to do was to increase my Krukian intake.
The other Sunday, two Kruk Allen & Ginter were offered for free through Nathan's Sunday giveaway thread on Bluesky. One was a 2023 mini, which I already had. But, the other was a regular size card from 2024, which I did not have. I got it a few weeks back, but a vacation to Ireland prevented me from flaunting it on this platform!
Sidebar. One day in Ireland we visited the Waterford crystal factory and they had some US sports related things. They had some basketball stuff, but, meh. They had a wooden mould for an American Football Helmut, as well as the mould for Mariana Rivera's glove.
The glove was apparently a gift from the Yankees in 2013, per this article. And a picture of the glass glove can be seen here.
Back to our regularly scheduled programming: Now, I dislike Allen & Ginter with the passion of seven thousand burning moons. I do not know what that exactly means, but I mean it nonetheless. A & G is amongst the worst products out there. It is loathsomely boring.
The duplicate 2023 has been already traded away. The 2024 one is sorta kinda welcome into my collection as it depicts Kruk with his righteous mullet.
Both of these Kruks are short prints. And the 2024 one above is my 9th new Kruk of the year and gets me one card, one inch, closer to my next Krukkian goal: 400 unique Kruk cards.
I am not a fan of the MLB Big Inning thing. How about you? I have never seen the NFL's Red Zone but I imagine this is the same thing? Nothing is more lame to me than watching people watch baseball and react to it: especially when most of them are douche canoes. (I also do not understand the allure of watching people play video games.) The spiteful codger in me wishes that every "Big Inning" end in less than 7 seconds with a double play.
Thanks for stopping by!
