And then there was...

One of the Big Ones is now in my house and in my collection of the Last Topps Cards of Hall of Fame Players.

1969 Topps. Card Number 500. Yellow letter last name.

MICKEY
MANTLE.

See what I did there?

The card is miscut. Clearly. You can see some of the thin black picture border of the other card to the left side of the card. But in the beautiful way that I'll never understand, the back is in much better condition. And strangely, I care more about seeing the border around the stats and other information than I do the front border.

For this project, at least.

Not including newly inducted players, I started off this year needing some Big Ones to fill in the project: Jackie Robinson, Bob Feller, and Phil Rizzuto (1956), Ted Williams (1958), Red Schoendienst (1962), and Mickey Mantle (1969).

Well. I got Feller. I got Rizzuto. I got Williams. I got Schoendienst. I got Mantle.

And then there was one.

Thanks for stopping by!
