Just one card to show today. If things go well I could double that for a post later on in the week.
ANDREW MCCUTCHEN IS NOT A LEFT-HANDED BATTER.
This is the 2026 Heritage card for Andrew McCutchen. Acquired, solely because I am collecting the major releases for him. I like the palm trees in the background and the crystal-clearness of the photograph notwithstanding, it is reminiscent of a 1977 Topps card.

That being said, Heritage (and Archives, since they are effectively the same thing), should run a filter --- I'm sure they exist or could be invented --- to age the photograph to make it more authentic looking to the original. The other thing I wouldn't mind seeing is Heritage moving away from modern players in their sets and just promoting Heritage players that played the game. I'm sick of the save 20 or 30 (or whatever, you know what I mean) veterans getting cards and hundreds of players being ignored. There are enough team collectors out there that I know they would go ga-ga for new Tim Teufel, Bo Diaz, or Steve Sax cards. Or even if not those players, there are stars and short-term stars that could use some new cards and remind modern and even historical collectors of their contributions to the game we love and the collecting hobby about which we are so passionate.
Thanks for stopping by!

Heritage is running the same filter they'e been running for well over a decade and it's driving me nuts since it's never looked like a real 1960s photo and looks like shit (Logan Webb's card is a disaster https://www.tcdb.com/ViewCard.cfm/sid/599667/cid/35008428/2026-Topps-Heritage-82-Logan-Webb )
ReplyDeleteNo idea why Cutch is batting lefthanded though it kind of looks like he knows he's messing with the photographer. Sheetz is probably pissed off about this since their logo isn't visible this way.
And if I were king of Topps one of the things I'd do is treat the all the different retail-level releases as Topps Total and try to get 50 different players per team represented across all the different sets.
I'd like it if you were King of Topps. Webb's card is awful. Like you I thought it was a ploy not to show the logo, and Wawa should capitalize on this marketing opportunity.
DeleteOdd, I have that card, how did I not know he was batting left-handed?
