Alan A contacted me on social media to see if I was interested in some of his father's Ryne Sandberg collection. I said I would take a look. He sent 23 pictures (an appropriate number for Sandberg) of his cards. My mouth dropped.
I doctored his images, drawing crude circles, squares, and unknown, unnamed shapes around the cards I was interested in. He countered back letting me know which cards were no longer available. He then worked out a fair price and before I knew it, 195 cards plus some bonus magazines, programs, and card boxes with Sandberg depicted were delivered. I was in New Haven when the arrived and was anxious to get home to see them.
Whoa.
I am enjoying looking through the cards at the moment and slowing adding them to my TCDB collection. I just discovered in there a couple of pocket schedules as well as a 7-11 Slurpee coin featuring George Bell, Dave Winfield, and Darryl Strawberry -- the "Power Hitters". We used to love biking up to the local 7-11 and getting a mixed flavor Slurpee and pulling the tab off the bottom to get the coin/card. I'm sure we cheated and peeled back the coin cover to see what was there. I'll read through the magazines and other goodies on the upcoming cold, long, and dark winter nights -- which by the way will reverse in about two weeks and start some daylight lengthening.
Thanks Alan!
Thanks for stopping by!

Wow, that's a nice haul.
