National Baseball Card Day

The below Andrew McCutchen card came the other week in a TCDB trade. It is from 2017 and from National Baseball Card Day. This is from his first iteration with the Pirates before they short-sightedly traded him away in the off-season of 2017-2018.

I've been wondering all year if 2025 was to be the last year of Andrew McCutchen as a player in MLB. When he was in the field on Opening Day and not the DH, I had the feeling this was to be the case. But, in his last home game in Pittsburgh on Sunday the 21st, he was in the DH position. I don't know if any of this means anything, but I suppose time will tell what will be his fate. Part of me believes he has enough in the tank for one more year; but then I watch him run the bases and in many instances if looks labored; painful even. He isn't the slowest player in the league by any stretch of the imagination, but he's losing it little by little. We all do that. But, it'll be an interesting off season. A longer one, again, for the Pirates, than for some others.

McCutchen has a few other National Baseball Day cards that I'd like to acquire in the course of time. There is a card for 2016 and then Stadium Giveaway cards for 2017, 2018, and 2019.

The card featured in this post is card number 97 in the collection.

Thanks for stopping by!
