The march towards 100 Andrew McCutchen cards continues with the addition of a few relic cards. I do not usually seek this kind of thing out, but thought it would be interesting to a few examples to the collection, to vary it up a bit. My main focus has been on his licensed cards: Topps, Stadium Club, Archives, Heritage, Topps Update and stuff like that. The inserts and a few variations seemingly started to find their way in too. I'd like, very much, to find an autograph on a Topps (or Topps family) card. But that's low priority at the moment.
So the following are the relic cards that came in recently from purchases. I had to make the card backs a little smaller in order to get the cards side-by-side.
First here is McCutchen's 2022 Topps - Major League Material Relics. This is theoretically from a Phillies uniform.
And, finally, 2023 Topps Heritage - Clubhouse Collection Relics from a Pirates uniform. This, also, is a High Number.
If I'm going to try to be completest, I need to seek out a Giants and Yankees relic too. Perhaps a chip from a bat, or something. The swatches of sock, pants, or jersey that these depict are not very interesting. But, they were presumably worn by McCutchen at some point. I do not believe the "CONGRATULATIONS!" on the back is very genuine. Especially since the relic isn't from "any specific game, event or season." Maybe it just means McCutchen looked at it?
Thanks for stopping by!
You're on your way to getting enough to sew them back into a franken-jersey!
