With no apologies to Billy Idol, I was card shopping online and decided to bite the bullet on a card I have long wanted: it was a nice day for a white whaling, as it were.
By rights I should highlight some other recent new John Kruk cards that came in via eBay sales, but I want to show off this white whale. It is the 1987 Bohemian Hearth Bread John Kruk. It is delightfully odd ball and food issue all in one that consists of 22 cards.
There are a couple of copies on eBay of this card: one is graded (PSA 6) and the asking is $59.99. Um, no. PSA 10 with a certified auto, maybe: but I would only break it out. And then a non-graded card for $19.99.
So, when the seller offered me the card for $6 just because I "watched" it, I jumped on it so quickly my watch gave me a "Relaxation reminder" notification. It is imperfect, but it is a long sought after card that is now happily mine. Mine all mine.
Have you recently acquired a white whale-like card?
Thanks for stopping by!
Congratulations! It's always nice to find a much-desired card that's difficult to find; especially when the price is right! Have never seen anything from that set. Didn't even know about it.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen these either, but it's a set of Padres so I understand why.
ReplyDeleteJohn Kruk was a big guy but "white whale" may be a slight exaggeration.
