I am not really a fan of rounded-cornered cards. I have ample selections in my collection as it seemed to really be a thing in the late 1980s and early 1990s, especially with those "Broder"-like cards. But I see them all the time on TCDB when I am bored and cropping cards (which is, actually kind of therapeutic). As negative as I can be, I much prefer cropping and accepting than I do rejecting a card for any number of reasons. Though, at the same time, there are rules and criteria to adhere to as a card-uploader. So if you suck at following directions then you deserve to have your contribution denied. But cards with rounded corners are just problematic.
Most of my cards I "trim" digitally once I've scanned them.
Though for my vintage cards I adopted more recently a "let-me-see-everything" policy so I get it as straight as I can but crop it so that I can see all the corners and edges.
But with the rounded corners...
I just dislike so, so, so much seeing the white space in the four corners of the image. It does not show up so hot in this instance, with a white background, but, it is unsettling, disconcerting, and is one of the things that could keep me up at night. Let's see this...
Right, this is a screen capture from the image viewer on my Chromebook. You can see the black background from the program/app, and those awful weird quasit triangles of white from the scan. Ugh.
Almost. In fact, I'm glad that the things that do keep me up at night are things as frivolous as this. But it doesn't stop me, at the same time, of feeling like a loser.
Thanks for stopping by.
Someone needs to start a company and hire me to crop card photos. Does COMC have jobs like that open?
