Calling an audible

I had a post planned for today but decided to pivot and post on something else that I saw a few weeks back that has crawled under my skin. And that is this "Shoebox Treasure" series that Topps is doing in collaboration with some artist who must be about eight years old, talent-wise.

This is an atrocity.

I feel badly picking on Tim Wallach because overall I'm thrilled that he is represented in a modern set and have seen Corey posting on his blog about these card. I'm excited he has stuff to chase. But this is bad art. This isn't even art. It's an insult to art.

Seriously didn't think anything could look worse than actual 1975 Topps in and of itself. But, this is even worse.

And what makes matters worse is the fact that there are 38 insert sets and 11 parallel sets.

I'll end on the back of the John Kruk card. Go on. Read that back. I've made it "extra large" for you. Read it.

WHAT THE HELL DOES THAT EVEN MEAN?  Well, actually, I know what it means but it was written and expressed so poorly so as to be nonsensically inane.

Thanks for stopping by.

  1. Ignoring your scurrilous attack on '75 Topps, Topps backs have read like AI wrote them for at least the last 10 years. But this is a new level.

    1. You know me by now that I'll never pass up an opportunity to hate on 1975 Topps. Though I want to make sure you know I respect that you love it.

  2. The art and writeups both make AI seem not so bad.

  3. Wow. I don't buy new cards and don't pay attention to anything other than new Cubs cards in the Topps base sets, so I didn't really see much of these until now. I wish I hadn't. Dreadful.
